The title of this blog comes from a phrase that runs around in my head—“All these places my heart resides and some of them I call home.”
My name is Ashley and home is currently the town of Huntington, West Virginia where I was born and raised. Before moving back, home was in the heart of the Rockies in Aspen, Colorado. And before that, home was at the beach in Wilmington, North Carolina. I have lived briefly in Bermuda and Costa Rica. And I can’t wait to see where life takes me next.
I started this blog upon moving back to my hometown. I was getting a divorce and in a place where I felt like I hadn’t been completely honest with those close to me…and with myself…in quite a while. Living open hearted and with honesty is something that’s always been important to me and this blog started as a way to reconnect with that way of living.
My dad told me once in the early stages of this blog…..”I read your blog to find out what’s really going on with you.” And I told him, “I write this blog to figure out what’s really going on with me.”
When people hear me tell the stories of growing
up in Southwest VA, they tell me I
should write a book. I don’t know about
that, but I do know that some people
take more in than others as they live
and so their stories can be rich.
Your heart for the past and the present
is apparent in your posts.
Go to church, sit where you won’t be
noticed and take it in as the you of
today.
Thanks Deni. I love the way you worded this. Hope you keep following…
Hope going back to your starting point helps you see today more clearly. Wishing you the best in your journey and looking forward to reading more about it.
Ashley, I am reading your writings and thinking of them after I read them….hope that your “journey” is a good one…..
Thank you Donna. It is a huge compliment that you are reading my posts and even more of a compliment that they are sticking with you.
Hey Ashley!
(This is Brittany’s good friend yet again…)
I just wanted to say that my 200hr Yoga Training is coming to an end in June. We did our “practice” practical a month ago and I couldn’t wait to centre my class around your Run and Run poem 🙂 I started the beginning of class getting everyone into their “child hood mind”, welcoming spring as the snow melts away. I did a pretty “playful”, more energetic class. And then ended with your poem. I had almost half the class in tears at the end 🙂 Your poem really struck a chord with them.
I thought you’d like to know the world loves your poetry! I am going to be sharing your blog site with them if that’s ok 🙂
Keep on writing!
Lindsay
Thanks Ashley, especially for “I write this blog to find out what’s really going on with me”
